As the holiday season is approaching, it is now time to think about those gifts to get for loved ones! This holiday season I am getting gifts that give back! These organizations donate a percentage of the proceeds of certain products to various charities. Philosophy has a Tree House line that donates 100% of the proceeds to PBS and PBS Kids. MAC Cosmetics

In the October issue of Glamour there is a section called "44 Ways to Look Amazing Now" starting on page 86. Check out the makeup that is mentioned but especially check out MAC cosmetics. I actually just bought a MAC lipstick featured in the article and I love it! MAC cosmetics have always been a favorite of mine because they are so high quality. I talked to the MAC specialist at South Park mall in Charlotte, NC and he said that MAC prides itself on putting all it's resources into the product, not the packaging. That is why MAC is packaged in basic black plastic. All the money spent goes into the actual product which is why MAC is such good quality! I would definitely suggest A) checking out the October issue of Glamour and B) go and check out the MAC cosmetics!

In the October issue of Glamour on page 78 there is a Glamalert page on DSW. This is an amazing shoe store! I went last week and got a pair of adorable new shoes! I would highly recommend this store to anyone! They have a great selection of shoes and they are pretty affordable as well. Check out dsw.com as well!!

Petal is a small, urban/chic, boutique in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina. Petal has a huge collection of fashionable clothes for both women and children. Designers such as Shoshanna are featured in the boutique. Petal is owned by a husband/wife team. The people that work at Petal are phenomenal as well. I had called to see what their hours were and they stayed open 30 extra minutes just so I could come by and check it out! This store is a great place both for it's merchandise and customer service. I would recommend Petal to anyone!

Cottage Chic is a quaint boutique located in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina. They have the perfect mix of old and new products. It has a very Shabby Chic style to it. I never knew this boutique existed and I am so happy that I found it.

Where else can you go to get L’Occitane beauty products, a Kate Spade bag, a Tibi dress, a Deborah Cavenaugh painting, and retro kitchen appliances? This shop has everything you need. The shop is in an actual cottage and each room holds fabulous treasures. They have a huge selection of bath and beauty products. I was also impressed by the paintings shown in the shop. Deborah Cavenaugh is a one of a kind artist located in the coastal town of Wilmington, NC. Her work is featured in the shop and is also for sale.

Cottage Chic also has a great selection of products for your home. They have many vintage style pieces, but they are actually newly made. This gives the customer the best of both worlds. You have a vintage appearance with the comfort of modern day function. I loved the baby pink retro style oven. Cottage Chic also has a section in the store where you can pick fabrics from the Shabby chic collection to make window treatments or upholstery.

Cottage Chic also has numerous products such as note cards, stationary, business card holders, even products for baby. It has a great “Southern Charm” atmosphere. Walking into that boutique is like walking into a treasure chest. There are so many pretty and unique things, you just want to buy the whole store. It truly is a one stop shop for all things fabulous and I am so glad that I found this great gem of a boutique. I highly recommend it for some great shopping and a great experience.

Sloan and Step by Sloan

Sloan and Step by Sloan are two designer boutiques in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina. They are both owned and operated by the Sloan family. While Sloan is focused primarily on clothing, Step by Sloan has a fabulous collection of designer footwear. I was very impressed by these boutiques for their keen sense of style and fashion trends.

Sloan is located on the lower level of the boutique. The selection is very trendy. Designers featured in their boutique are Tina Turk and Nicole Miller to name a couple. The style of clothing they have selected is very “Carrie Bradshaw” from Sex and the City, which I absolutely love. I was particularly impressed by their collection of dresses. The dresses were mostly in bright colors with fun patterns. I could definitely see Ms. Bradshaw in any one of their dresses. They also have a nice collection of designer denim. Definitely a place where only the women with the best fashion sense would shop.

Step by Sloan is located in the upper level of the boutique. In addition to the great selection of shoes, they also have a nice selection of designer bags and accessories. Some designer brands featured in the store are Bettye Muller, Michael Kors, and Anne Klein. I had hoped to see Dior Extreme in their store but I did love the collection of shoes they had. Unfortunately, no Manolo’s either.

Both Sloan and Step by Sloan have done a great job keeping up with the fashion trends. I would wear anything from their stores with great pride. I was very impressed by the layout and atmosphere of the stores as well. Very upbeat and fashion forward. I would highly recommend Sloan or Step by Sloan to anyone looking for some great designer pieces to add to their wardrobes.
